I don't hear any similarities between these two songs at all.  What am I missing?

 

It's just one line in the verse : "I wanna take you away" sounds very much like "I fell in love with San Pedro" and then the melody changes. Subliminal. Basically a chord progression, nothing original enough in both songs.

In this clip, Madonna sings a very short part of lyrics and says:

"Please don't stop the music. Yeah, this sounds like a song I wrote (similarities with La Isla Bonita). I could've written it, I could've written it!"

It's a bit similar but it's not like La Isla Bonita has the most original melody ever tbh.

"Hey you! Don't you give up! It's not so bad," I forgive you! Haha! Although I'm not sure theres much more for the two. They had the duet performance for Ghosttown, which I'm sure no one remembers except us. And there is an article nit picking the music video for all the pop music rip offs it features, including standing amongst her alter-egos or various career stages (really they had to make a couple up just for the video if I'm not mistaken) and the most stunning being the car crash at just the right angle (also a flashy car). 

 

The only Madonna performances I've 100% intentionally avoided and will never watch/hear are the one with Miley Cyrus and the one with Taylor Swift.
