Unpopular Madonna Opinions

Maybe this is not an "unpopular opinion" as I haven't seen many people talk about this, but I'm a bit disturbed by the "RebelsTwins" Instagram account.  I'm a little confused by whom is running it. I originally thought it was someone unrelated to Madonna who is grabbing videos and photos from various Madonna's official Instagram and other related accounts of hers, but some of the photos and videos I have no idea where they are coming from.  Also there is a strong push towards the Malawi efforts.  If the focus was simply on the good Madonna's done through Malawi, and to share how the Twins are doing in a new environment, that's fine, but it's included a lot of other vanity  pics/projects as well as other projects from Madonna's children such as Lourdes.  It's a bit disturbing when it's from the 4 year old perspective, and they are sharing Lola's in that has some pornographic adverts in it, etc.

my unpopular opinions

- Rebel Heart had so much potential, but the hip hop (Best Night, VVV etc) stuff kinda ruined it. Bit of a wasted opportunity.

- Music (album) is so overrated.

- Hard Candy is underrated. Quality production, concise 12 track setlist, some 6 minutes mixes with instrumental breaks, good lyrics. By no means her best, but not bad.

- I'm Breathless is meh.

- I find the Drowned World Tour boring (in comparison to other tours).

- Cherish is an awesome song.

- GGW is an amazing song. The video is everything.

- American Life (song) is one of my favourite M songs. Especially that rap (I'm not even kidding)

My unpopular opinions:

1. Ray Of Light is my least favorite Madonna album

2. Except of a few performances I absolutely don´t like the Drowned World Tour. It´s her worst tour including the setlist

3. I love Bitch I´m Madonna. It´s my favorite uptempo song from Rebel Heart and her freshest and most daring single since Music

4. I love the Hard Candy album and the Sticky & Sweet Tour so much. They are both highly underrated.

Drowned World Tour is her worst tour ever.

Its definitely the one I have watched the least amount of times along with Whos That Girl Tour (her vocals are lovely and shes very energetic but its all just music theres not much else that goes on which is nice but yes) Drowned World Tour is really... drowned with concepts and theatrics.... its a bit asphyxiating.

I think that most of the opinions (included mine) depends of the moment when we're judging things.

I mean, for example, when people talk about the tours, about if they are overrated or not, well, I think the only way to know it is looking the tours of the same time. I recognize that if Madonna made in 2017 a tour like the "Who's that girl tour" it would be something like "What the hell?" but in 1987 it was the best thing she could do and it was much better than the 99'9% of the shows at that time. I remember when you read the newspapers talking about the changes of her clothes (when the only thing she made was putting a jacket on) and things like that but it was more than what people made those days. And she was dancing all the time when most of the people was there singing the songs and that's all. Same with "Blond Ambition Tour". What she made with the stage was completly new. The "factory" of "Express yourself", The Church of "Like a prayer" the stage for "Vogue"... In 1990 most of the people had a stage like the "Who's that girl tour" one and that was all, so watching how everthing was changing for every set it was just incredible.

About the albums I think it's just the same. Now I think that "Ray of light" is a very boring album (at least for me) but in 1998 it was an incredible album. I enjoyed very much the "Ray of light" era and everything was just perfect. I think a lot of people loves the album just because it's recognized as one of her best. Something similar goes to "Erotica". I've seen that lots of fans say "I love "Erotica" era" but most of them didn't live that time. What they like is more the controversial moment than the album itself. I remember it was hard times for Madonna fans in 1992. For the general public she was just a "whore that have to get naked to sell albums because as a singer she didn't have nothing special". I love "Erotica" because musically I think is just great. I have the song "Waiting" (musically speaking) but I love her lyrics. It was the music what made "Erotica" a great album, not "Sex".

Now a new unpopular opinion...

I think lots of fans say something is good just because the general public don't like it or because is just controversial. I think sometimes fans judge depending of she showes her nipples or not.

-American Life was a solid album from start to finish but the artwork was horrible.

-I absolutely hate the way she is dressing lately and has been doing the gypsy theme to death. I especially loathe the shoes she wore on the rebel heart tour and see's been wearing them for everything lately. They look like orthopedic high-heels.

--I do not care for the Like a Virgin Era

I never understood the love for Re-Invention Tour. Didn't like the set, costumes were boring, it contains the worst performance/version of Vogue, the "landing/floating" catwalk was stupid and I don't care about how many "hits" she managed to squeeze into the setlist, that's not what I go to see Madonna for.

I quite like when her live vocals are off key.  The Barcelona BAT man voice that sounds like a stretched cassette tape, the bootlegs of sticky and sweet tour without all the dodgy autotune, I even like the Live 8 ROL screech/laugh/high note.  It sounds more natural when there's the odd bum note, and hilarious when its all bum notes.

Regarding the Vogue performance, I kinda agree. I didn't mind the stage performance and the costume, but I thought the vocals for that version was just awful.

As for the actual tour, I loved it and I think the reason many fans did like it was because of all the hits she did squeeze in. There were songs she didn't perform since her first tour.  "Crazy For You", "Burning Up", "Material Girl" and "Into the Groove" were just awesome to hear after so many years not hearing a live performance of these songs.  The same goes for "Papa Don't Preach".

But of course, she stepped up her game on future tours, so like a number of her past tours, it doesn't hold up against what she followed up with.  Though at the time, I really felt it was a great tour.
